Free Hot Meals
Friends serves free, hot, nutritious lunches (including hearty soup and hot and cold sandwiches) in a dignified, welcoming dining room. We’re open five days a week (Monday–Friday) from 10:15 am to 12:30 pm. We provide approximately 57,000 meals annually to the homeless and housed who are vulnerable – families with kids, the elderly, and others in need on East Colfax.

Free Food Baskets
Friends operates a food pantry open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (Not available Wednesdays.). Over 93,000 meals are served annually through this food pantry operation. Guests check in between 10:15 AM and 11:00 AM. Each basket is tailored to the needs and dietary requirements of the household during the intake interview. About 15 baskets are prepared daily on a first-come, first-served basis.

Care Closet
Friends distributes donated and new clothing year-round, including: coats, hats, gloves, shoes, pants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, and especially new socks and underwear. We also provide warm blankets, toys and stuffed animals for children, and pet products like collars and leashes. The Care Closet is available 5-days a week during normal business hours.

Mail Service
For the estimated 35% of guests who are homeless or in transitional housing, Friends offers a free mailbox service. Registered guests use our address as their permanent mailing address for receiving important correspondence, benefits, and personal mail and deliver it to them when it’s convenient for them.

Navigating Resources
We invite social service organizations for on-site screening and counseling. We also provide guided information and referrals for physical/mental health care, legal advice, job search, placement, and other needs to help guests address poverty, addiction, and barriers to fuller living.
My favorite meal is soup! The soup is delicious and I can sustain myself with it and everything else seems optional.
