We’re Friends of St. Andrew or just “Friends” to our volunteers, guests and the community. We’re a Soup Kitchen on Colfax Avenue in the heart of Old Downtown Aurora. Friends is a Queen of Peace Parish Ministry, owned and operated by the parish since 1986. For 40 years, we’ve served the most vulnerable people on East Colfax Avenue.
Friends is known for its works of mercy and it is trusted by the poor
and disenfranchised in our community.
Friends is a ministry of hospitality. We work humbly in a spirit of friendship
with respect and kindness for all, preparing homemade soup, distributing food baskets,
and offering other essential items like clothing to any and all who come to our door.
We’re known for our soup and we are loved for our compassion…
We encounter, listen, accompany, encourage…
That’s what Friends do!
At Friends…we feed body and soul
✴ Meals prepared with love
Mother Teresa said, “Do small things with great love.” Friends is the only daily soup kitchen, serving East Colfax with high-quality, nutritious hot meals (and sandwiches) five days a week with love and care. Soup is our focus; part of a nutritious meal served in a dignified dining room. We serve over 57,000 hot lunches annually while emphasizing hospitality and friendship.
✴ All are welcome
At Friends we practice radical hospitality based on universal brotherhood: no judgment, all peaceful people are welcome—homeless or housed, families, elderly, youth. Friendship is our hallmark. We tailor meals and food baskets to your needs. For convenience we offer dine-in/carry-out. We even take care of the four legged friends…of our friends.
✴ A persistent presence
Friends has been a trusted member of the East Colfax community for 40 years. We don’t preach or proselytize. Our actions speak louder than our words. Ours is a Practice of Presence and Accompaniment. Ours is a Ministry of Hospitality. We strive to be a light in a world often shrouded in darkness. An oasis of friendship, a neighbor in times of need.

“Hunger for love is more difficult to satisfy than the hunger for bread… It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.”

St. Teresa of Calcutta
Queen of Peace
Queen of Peace Catholic Parish, located at 13120 E. Kentucky Ave. in Aurora, Colorado, is a vibrant, multicultural Roman Catholic community. Founded nearly 50 years ago, it is one of the largest parishes in the area. The parish also founded and continues to operate Friends of St. Andrew, and Friends is grateful for the vision and support that the parish provides.
